Vivo Rio: two decades of music and culture
The trajectory of the house is linked to modern architecture, to the Museum of Modern Art and Rio’s cultural life.
Opened in 2006, Vivo Rio became one of the main concert venues and shows in Rio de Janeiro. The house is located in Flamengo Park, within the architectural complex linked to the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro.
The building derives from a project conceived at the beginning from the 1950s by architect Affonso Eduardo Reidy, one of the names central to modern Brazilian architecture. The integration with the gardens, water mirrors and landscape of the Aterro do Flamengo helps transform arrival at spectacle as part of the experience.
According to the house itself, more than four million people have already passed through space. Its programming brought together Brazilian music and international, dance, circus, magic, humor, theater and musicals.
The structure uses modular areas, allowing different audience and stage configurations depending on the profile of the show. The complex also has foyer, balcony, dressing rooms, guest room, suites and spaces used in corporate events.
Throughout its history, Vivo Rio has consolidated itself as a stage for large tours and also for more intimate shows, maintaining a program which crosses MPB, samba, jazz, pop, rock, classical music and international productions.
