– With this new theater, the Cesgranrio Foundation reaffirms its conviction that education and culture go hand in hand. We believe that environments rich in culture are fundamental for the development of human knowledge and skills. To further encourage public presence, we inaugurated the space with free and classified shows, that is, those that can be watched by children, young people and adults. We also hope to contribute to the formation of audiences among the population of Rio, the vast majority of whom do not have the habit of attending theaters – declared the president of the Foundation, Carlos Alberto Serpa.

Serpa says he is convinced that Theater allows people to experience remarkable and unforgettable emotions, encouraging people to incorporate them, resulting in the transformation of people into well-prepared, conscious and participatory citizens.

– Equally important is to support and praise the industrious theater class that, despite the difficulties encountered, manages to put on fantastic shows that confirm, without a doubt, Theater as pure art, in a complicity between a script, the artists' interpretation and the human being for whom it is intended. Therefore, we believe in the Brazilian Theater and we do it with conviction and determination – he highlighted.

The space was designed by architect Jorge Delmas, with consultancy from set designer José Dias, professor at the School of Theater at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Unirio).
