A meeting point for artists, intellectuals and politicians, frequented by thousands of people throughout its existence, the building was built in the 19th century. It opened in 1890 as the Brazilian National Casino and soon became known as the National Casino in 1901.

The great challenge of the works was to maintain the legitimacy of the historical heritage and create a more modern structure, with dimensions that would support all the latest generation equipment necessary for the full functioning of the theater, which was designed to accommodate the most diverse types of cultural and corporate events.
