Natural de Pedro II, no Piauí, Zé Filho iniciou sua trajetória musical aos 17 anos, passando por várias bandas no Nordeste, incluindo a Explosão do Som, até lançar-se em carreira solo em 2005. Com mais de vinte anos de carreira, soma 25 CDs e quatro DVDs, sempre explorando a essência da canção romântica, seu gênero de marca registrada e que aproxima-o do seu público fiel.
