Depois de uma temporada de um ano na capital paulista e interior de São Paulo, o espetáculo “O Controle” chega ao Rio de Janeiro para apresentações inéditas no Teatro Cândido Mendes.

O texto inédito de Guilherme Fiuza faz uma reflexão sobre a liberdade individual em tempos de ascensão dos mecanismos de controle coletivo, interpretado pelo consagrado ator Reynaldo Gonzaga, sob a direção de Ricardo Peixoto. “O Controle” se passa em um futuro não muito distante, onde um homem está preso sem saber o motivo. Ele se considerava um cidadão exemplar, cumpridor abnegado de todas as medidas governamentais que garantiam a ética coletiva. Orgulhoso de sua elevada pontuação no esquema de crédito social, ele estava prestes a alcançar uma faixa de pontuação cidadã que lhe permitiria morar em uma área mais nobre. Contudo, separado de seu iPhone, não tem mais acesso à sua posição social, o que significa que não sabe quanto tempo ficará preso. Ao dividir sua perplexidade com o companheiro de cela, que se mantém em silêncio, o protagonista encontrará, em seus pertences, as pistas para o motivo de sua prisão.

O espetáculo “O Controle” é uma reflexão sobre a liberdade individual em tempos de ascensão dos mecanismos de controle coletivo. After a year-long run in São Paulo and its surroundings, the play “The Control” arrives in Rio de Janeiro for its debut performances at Teatro Cândido Mendes.

The new text by Guilherme Fiuza reflects on individual freedom in times of rising collective control mechanisms, starring the renowned actor Reynaldo Gonzaga, directed by Ricardo Peixoto. “The Control” is set in a not-so-distant future, where a man is imprisoned without knowing why. He considered himself an exemplary citizen, selflessly adhering to all government measures that guaranteed collective ethics. Proud of his high score in the social credit system, he was close to reaching a citizen score tier that would allow him to live in a more upscale area. However, separated from his iPhone, he no longer has access to his social standing, meaning he has no idea how long he will be imprisoned. As he shares his perplexity with his silent cellmate, the protagonist will find clues in his belongings that lead to the reason for his imprisonment.

The play “The Control” is a reflection on individual freedom in times of rising collective control mechanisms. Where is the line between the improvement of civilizational rules and the totalitarian temptations of central control? The hyperconnection among individuals around the world through digital technology can be liberating or imprisoning.
