DESERTO, um espetáculo triplamente indicado ao Prêmio APTR nas categorias Melhor Direção, Dramaturgia e Ator Protagonista, assim como ao 35º Prêmio Shell na categoria Ator, é dirigido e escrito por Luiz Felipe Reis e protagonizado por Renato Livera.

Este é a primeira encenação brasileira baseada na obra e nas memórias do renomado escritor chileno Roberto Bolaño (1953-2003), considerado o maior autor latino-americano da virada do século XXI. A nova temporada de DESERTO começa em 01 de maio no Teatro Poeira, sempre de quinta a domingo.

O espetáculo apresenta uma fascinante experiência multilinguagem, unindo teatro, literatura, poesia, música e instalações de vídeo, para celebrar e manter vivo o legado artístico de um dos escritores mais reconhecidos da História da América Latina.

Renato Livera se aproxima da figura de Bolaño, emprestando corpo e voz às suas palavras extraídas de obras emblemáticas, como “A universidade desconhecida”, “2666” e “Bolaño por si mesmo”. O espetáculo foca nos últimos anos da vida do autor, quando ele se dedicou à sua obra-prima, “2666”, enquanto revisita sua impressionante jornada, que o levou do Chile ao México, pelas Américas e, finalmente, à Espanha.

DESERTO recria os vestígios dessa aventura e compartilha com o público reflexões autobiográficas e artísticas de Bolaño, explorando sua relação com a escrita, a poesia e questões sociais e políticas da América Latina. O espetáculo propõe um questionamento profundo sobre o lugar da poesia e dos poetas em um mundo marcado pela violência contemporânea.

Segundo Luiz Felipe Reis, “DESERTO reverbera o grande ponto de interrogação presente na obra de Bolaño, que questiona a viabilidade da poesia em meio à violência e à opressão do mundo atual.” Ele acredita que a poesia e a aventura poética são formas de vida capazes de nos conduzir por um caminho de resistência e criatividade.

DESERT, a production nominated in three categories for the APTR Award (Best Direction, Playwriting, and Lead Actor), as well as for the 35th Shell Award in the Actor category, is directed and written by Luiz Felipe Reis and stars Renato Livera.

This is the first Brazilian staging based on the works and memories of the acclaimed Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño (1953-2003), considered the greatest Latin American author of the turn of the 21st century. The new season of DESERT begins on May 1 at Teatro Poeira, running every Thursday through Sunday.

The performance offers a fascinating multilingual experience, intertwining theater, literature, poetry, music, and video installations to celebrate and keep alive the artistic legacy of one of Latin America’s most recognized writers.

Renato Livera embodies the figure of Bolaño, lending body and voice to his words extracted from emblematic works such as “The Unknown University,” “2666,” and “Bolaño by Himself.” The production focuses on the last years of the author’s life, capturing his dedication to completing his masterpiece, “2666,” while revisiting his remarkable journey from Chile to Mexico, across the Americas, and finally settling in Spain.

DESERT recreates the traces of this adventure, sharing a series of autobiographical and artistic reflections from Bolaño—his relationship with writing, poetry, and the social and political history of Latin America. The performance raises profound questions about the role of poetry and poets in a world plagued by contemporary violence.
